Sony Xperia Z1S is the mini Z1 for global release, not the Z1 f

A couple of weeks ago Sony announced a miniature version of its Xperia Z1 Android smartphone for the Asian market. The Xperia Z1 f comes in a variety of colours and was officially revealed by one of Japan's major networks DoCoMo.

Now a second mini device has leaked, and this time it is strongly believed that the phone will be released globally. The Sony Xperia Z1S also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. And, it has the same 20.1-megapixel sensor as its Asian sibling and the Sony G lens.

Constant source of smartphone leaks and consternation for their manufacturers, @evleaks, has also furnished us with a picture, which, if true, shows a phone that has a similar design aesthetic to the original Z1.

It doesn't really look like the DoCoMo equivalent, as that has rounded corners.

Whether the Z1S comes in a variety of colours is yet to be seen. Some believe we might even have to wait until next year to see the phone in the flesh - at least, if the 14 January date on the render is anything to do by.
