Fifty Shades: UK Actor Dornan Replaces Hunnam

Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan is to be named in the lead role in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey.

The book, written by EL James, has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide and is the fastest-selling paperback of all time, beating even Harry Potter.

Dornan, from Holywood, Co Down, is a former Calvin Klein model with a growing number of acting credits to his name, including Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette and the recent TV series The Fall.

The former boyfriend of Keira Knightley is now married to musician Amelia Warner.

Dornan, 31, has been considered a hot favourite for the part of Christian Grey, the lead man in the erotic sadomasochistic romance novel that tracks the relationship between a college graduate and a young business magnate, since actor Charlie Hunnam dropped out.

Hunnam's startling departure came just one month after it was revealed he had taken the part.

While the official reason was said to be because of other acting commitments, it has been reported the Sons Of Anarchy star decided to drop out of the project because he was worried about overwhelming huge media coverage.

Dakota Johnson, 23, will play the female lead Anastasia Steele in the film, which will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson.

It is due to be released next year.
